Do I like Modern Art? Most emphatically, NO! How does so much appalling rubbish get on to canvas?... These men who paint a woman with a great eye in some remote section of her anatomy, five arms and ten legs, fingers like bunches of bananas, ought to be struck like it themselves. They should be put away where they can do less harm. The trouble is, they can't do a good drawing, so they try, and unfortunately succeed, in getting notoriety by doing freak work. (Eileen Soper)
