I mainly paint from 'inside out' and from 'outside in.' The former is when a painting is planned from the outset; the latter is when I don't have a preconceived plan. Although more challenging and fun to do, this 'outside in' mode is more difficult in that I don't even know what the subject matter will be. (Barbara L. Siegal)
